6.4 Results and Discussion
The performance of the system is evaluated for the three approaches. First the performance of the recommender agent is evaluated using only the cosine similarity measure without referring to any ontology. It is observed that the system reaches to precision of 67.54. Richer user profiles are updated by adding the semantically related keywords. This is performed with the use of ontology. A small ontology is designed for experimentation using the protégé editor which consists of few concepts related to computer science subject [29]. It increases the precision to 73.53. This proved that the system performs well by the addition of semantically related keywords. It is found that ACM Computing Classification System 2012 can be used as the better ontology for computer science field. With the use of ACM CCS 2012, the recommender agent has classified library resources. The profile agent makes use of ACM CCS 2012 for the identification of subject areas in which user has interests. The experiment using ACM CCS 2012 gives the better precision 81.66 among the three approaches. Table 8 gives the summary of the results for generation of recommendations for the sample 25 users using above three approaches.Table 8Evaluation of 25 users of the library recommender system
